Breana Morris – Helping others and inspiring children.

High School Graduation Series

Breana Morris – Student U Class of 2019 and A/B Honor Roll Student

Breana Morris is a Senior at Northern High School and is graduating this May. She plans to attend Durham Tech to major in Journalism and Business. Her goal is to help and inspire others, while using her talents in the arts and business to create programs to empower children to succeed.

What is your vision for the world and Durham?
The world can be a better place if we work together and help, empower, and inspire each other instead of hurting and putting down each other. What is your role in that vision?
Empower and inspire others starting with kids because kids are the future. What challenges/obstacles have you or must you overcome on your journey to realizing your vision?
Throughout my life so far, health, fear, math, financial circumstances, and transportation have been obstacles. What values guide/drive you on your journey?
No matter what I do with my life, I want to live life to the fullest. I want to be the best me possible and inspire others. In the grand scheme of things, why do you believe it is important you succeed?
Because to succeed is to work hard, and to work hard is to overcome despite all the obstacles that come your way. Who has/is helping you on your journey?
My mom, Student U, my Student U college advisor, my teachers, and my counselor. How has Student U been part of your journey?
Through Student U, I had opportunities that I never thought were possible. I have discovered more about myself and passions while growing tremendously. What is your plan to achieve your vision? What steps have you already taken and what ones are next?
I had a summer internship through Student U with Girls Rock and that started my passion to empower and inspire kids through art and music. My next step is to go to college, double major in journalism and business, and hopefully double minor in performing arts in music, dance, theater, or art. I would also like to get my business degree and start my own business that will be like a summer camp and year-round after-school program. I would also like to become a bestseller author to empower and inspire others. When you succeed how do you hope your life will be different? How will other’s lives be different?
I hope that I’m happy doing what I love, helping others succeed, and empowering and inspiring them with all that I do. What is one piece of advice you would give your younger peers? How will you help them succeed?
Never give up no matter how hard life gets.
You are more than you know, try, try, and try again. Don’t stop and I’m always here for you.
