It has been an excellent start for the High School Program! We enjoyed hosting our high school students and their families at The W.G. Pearson Center Monday evening for our first U-Prep of the school year! Families learned more about the high school program, and they met our High School Staff. With more focus on the individual needs of our students, this year, the High School Staff consists of Academic Coaches for 9th grade students who need additional support around academic work and executive functioning, Advocates who support 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students as they navigate their high school experience and learn more about their career interests and community opportunities, and College Advisors who support our 12th grade students with the college application process.
Families also had the chance to learn more about community health resources at our Health Fair led and organized by our Family Engagement Coordinator, Ms. Andrea, and our Community Health Workers, Ms. Carmen and Ms. Cynthia. In addition to U Prep Day, our Academic Coaches began meeting in person with their caseload of students.
Finally, our High School seniors gathered for their first College Bound 401 on September 13th at The WG Pearson Center. Seniors met their college advisor in person and began working on college applications.
