Shana's Why:

I value community, caring and equitable relationships, deep listening, and a sense of joy. I love working in spaces that youth choose to be in and where they can explore and grow surrounded by a loving community. I see Student U as a place that deeply respects young people and offers mentors and guides to walk with youth on their journey, expanding what they might see as possible but not prescribing a certain outcome or way of being. I am grateful to be part of this community.

Shana outside of Student U:

Outside of Student U, I love doing puzzles with my partner, making forts and exploring playgrounds with my son, and taking my dogs to the Eno. I’m happiest by the water, campfire, or dinner table, singing and sharing with loved ones.

Advice Shana finds valuable:

“Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in”

– Leonard Cohen
