Madi's Why:

I’m devoted to my family (biological and chosen) and deeply value home, care, creativity, imagination, and curiosity. Student U has challenged, uplifted, held space for, and empowered me in unexpected and powerfully felt ways. Every day here is an opportunity to return that love to my community. I believe learning is boundless, and I feel proud to walk with my team, our students, and our families as lifelong learners discovering our best selves, achieving greatness, and sharing our brilliance with each other.

Madi outside of Student U:

I was born and raised in Colorado, but you won’t catch me on a ski slope or hiking a ‘fourteener’… I moved to North Carolina for graduate school and stayed for the warm weather, lush green landscape, southern cooking, rich history, folk music, and people. I consider myself ‘mom’ to two senior dogs, a cat, and a lone rooster who wandered into my yard and never left. On my days off, you can find all five of us outside, sunbathing or poking around the garden. I love weird books, long podcasts, deep conversations, time together, singing along, dancing in my kitchen, sharing meals, and starting DIY projects I never quite finish.

Advice Madi finds valuable:

“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift” – Steve Prefontaine
