Madi's Why:

I value family, community, care, imagination, and curiosity most. I appreciate that Student U supports students and their families as lifelong learners and promotes learning and care practices that happen beyond the classroom and outside of academic contexts.

Madi outside of Student U:

I was born and raised in Colorado, but you won’t catch me on a ski slope or hiking a ‘fourteener’… I moved to North Carolina for graduate school and stayed for the warm weather, southern cooking, folk music, and people. I have two senior dogs, a cat, and a lone chicken who wandered into my yard and never left. On my days off, you can find all five of us outside, sunbathing, swimming, or poking around the garden. I love talking books and films, so ask me what I’m reading or watching!

Advice Madi finds valuable:

“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift” – Steve Prefontaine
