Meet Donovan Livingston, Student U’s College Advisor

We are excited to announce the addition of Donovan Livingston to the Student U staff. After conducting a national search and leading half-day interviews with our finalists, the Selection Committee chose Donovan to join our team. Donovan brings to Student U a passion for college access and retention, the ability to form deep relationships with student and parents, and a great understanding of Student U’s Core Values.

Student U’s College Advisor will support our students, families and advocates in ensuring our high schoolers have the skills and resources needed to be strong college applicants and then strong college students. As our first College Advisor, Donovan will be tasked with building the foundation for Student U’s future College Advising department which will span the middle and high school programs.

Donovan is a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina. He is a 2009 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a 2011 graduate of Columbia University’s Teacher College with a Masters in Higher and Post-secondary Education.  Between undergrad and graduate school, Donovan worked for the Carolina College Advising Corps, supporting high school students at Dudley and B. L. Smith High Schools, in Greensboro, North Carolina, as they prepared and applied to college. He later moved to New York City and worked with the National College Advising Corps at New York University/Urban Assembly Academy of History & Citizenship for Young Men. Over his career, Donovan has served over 700 students and has helped them secure over $10 million dollars in scholarships and financial aid. In addition to this work with high school students, Donovan is an accomplished spoken word artist and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated.

In Student U fashion, we encourage you to reach out to Donovan and welcome him into our community. Donovan can be reached at donovan.livingston@studentudurham.org.
