Thursday, September 19, 2019 at The W.G. Pearson Center. 6pm-8pm

The Black Parent Empowerment Workshops are intended to educate parents and students about educational disparities and empower families to advocate for better academic outcomes for Black students. This forum will provide Black students and their parents or guardians the opportunity to share their experiences around access to honors and advanced academics. We will hear from Durham Public Schools about their efforts to decrease disparities and share community resources that prioritize academic success for Black children. Join a group of dedicated Black parent and community leaders as we create and execute action plans to increase access to advanced academic programs for Black students and the betterment of education for all students.
