Reality of Money Simulation

Join us July 9 from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM to volunteer during Financial Literacy week as students are assigned various jobs and salaries, then asked to navigate a series of financial circumstances (e.g., car repairs) while managing their money. We believe that in order to reach their full potential and become life-long change makers, students must have the knowledge and resources to achieve financial security as adults.

The Reality of Money (ROM) event is a financial education activity for students and is greatly enhanced by those who choose to volunteer. If you choose to be a part of this you would not only help with the activity, but you would have the opportunity to witness the positive impact NC educators have on their students every day. The Reality of Money event requires up to 30 volunteers for each student session, and we will host 2 sessions between the hours of 8:00am-12:00pm.  Although we would prefer volunteers to stay from 8:00am-12:00pm, we would still love for you to participate if you can only commit to one shift.

If you choose to volunteer and/or if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact Michelle Norwood, one of Student U’s High School Program Coordinators at michelle.bridgers@studentudurham.org.
