Cherokee is responsible for implementing the community schools strategy at New Hope Elementary School. Cherokee helps to conduct thorough needs and assets assessment (ANA), and works with the School Advisory Board to develop and implement a strategic plan based on the results of that assessment, both through programs that align with the 4 pillars of our Community Schools Model, and the Family Resource Center. Cherokee is also responsible for optimizing the use of community resources and human capital, such as volunteers and interns, to create the maximum impact. My goal is to enhance both community and individual assets, address critical needs, and promote long-term collective solutions.

Cherokee McAdoo, MSW, LCSWA

Student U Community School Coordinator | New Hope Elementary School

Cherokee's Why:

I am deeply invested in the advancement of our students, families, and communities to have the access and support necessary to thrive. I believe there is power in community and centering joy in all that we do professionally and personally. I am continuously inspired to help build a world where education is equitable, accessible, and transformational. I am very grateful to be a part of a team that shows up and out everyday for the betterment of our society.

Cherokee outside of Student U:

Outside of Student U, you can find me taking a hot yoga class or working out at the gym, where I prioritize my physical health and well-being. I love spending quality time with my family, whether it’s sharing stories around the dinner table or cooking delicious meals for the people I love. I find immense joy in reading, often getting lost in a good book that expands my mind and fuels my imagination. You could also find me cherishing the moments spent in nature with my dog, Arlo. These activities provide a perfect balance to my professional life, allowing me to recharge and stay connected to the things that matter most to me.

Advice Cherokee finds valuable:

“If we truly wish to see this world become a better place, the goal is to work ourselves out of a job.”

As a social worker at heart, the goal will always be to help improve the lives of those I serve.
