Healthy food: Durham Catering Company is partnering with Student U to pilot a healthy food initiative in locals schools.

The program is planned to provide 150 middle school students with healthier options, and also will create new internships for Student U’s high school students.

Tom Ferguson, chef and owner of Durham Catering (and co-owner of Only Burger) is a longtime supporter of Student U. Durham Catering already has provided more than $4,000 worth of meals by sponsoring Student U’s monthly outreach and fundraising events.

Student U is a Durham-based nonprofit that connects teachers and education majors at local universities with students in public schools.

Details on the program will be unveiled at Student U’s annual breakfast on Feb. 11 at Durham Academy.
