Generosity is one of my highest values. Student U, and my job depend on the incredible generosity of funders, donors, and partners. But we all have the capacity to be generous; with our time, talent, and treasure, as well as in our personal interactions, our assumptions, and our relationships. Student U is an incredible community because everyone contributes, including students, families, staff, volunteers, donors, community members, local leaders, and more. Everyone who is touched by Student U feels the generous community orientation and is better for it.
My husband and three young sons light up my life! We love to play and watch sports together–especially the Durham Bulls, anything Duke, and the Red Sox, Dodgers, and Mariners. We love the mountains, the beach, and roaming the neighborhood on various combinations of bikes, scooters, and strollers. I lean all the way into “boy mom” life, but I love girl time, too, in the form of book clubs, group chats, and meaningful conversations.
“Ask for what you need.”
People are generous. They want to give, they want to help. When we have the courage to ask for what we really need, relationships can bloom and our cooperative impact can make a real difference.
