Summer Academy Middle School Teacher

Summer Academy Mentor Teacher

Mentor Teachers serve as an important support role in our Summer Academy program. Each mentor will own a part of the instructional day at Student U. This include academic core classes like math, science, English and Global Connect along with Read Fearlessly (small reading groups) and electives (teacher designed courses based on teacher interest).

Summer Academy Program Coordinator Assistant

The Program Coordinator Assistant will work closely with the Student U Program Coordinators to plan, prepare and implement the Summer Academy Program. The Program Coordinator Assistant will work part-time during the spring, meeting with the Program Coordinators to plan for upcoming events and program-wide summer events. During the summer, this person will work full-time providing support with the day-to-day logistics of the summer academy programming. There will be two Program Coordinator Assistants split between the middle and high school program coordinators. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience working with youth, planning and coordinating youth programs, and a belief in Student U’s mission and values.

Summer Interventionist

Student U Summer Interventionists are licensed, experienced educators who are present part-time in the summer to support middle school students who are behind grade level in some capacity and/or could benefit from more individualized instruction. During Student U’s Middle School Summer Academy, interventionists are on site from 7:30-12:00 each day to deliver targeted small-group instruction in either reading or math and to provide push-in support in other content areas. Interventions work to ensure all learners in our middle school Summer Academy are supported and thriving.

Summer Academy High School College Prep Teacher

There will be a 9th grade College Prep teacher and 10th grade College Prep teacher at Student U’s Summer Academy. Our Associate Director of College Advising and Success will provide the objectives for the course and the teachers will be responsible for editing and making it their own. Student U’s College Prep goals state that students will have knowledge of choices necessary to go to college, make connections between current choices and college(future life), be able to identify areas of growth and strengths in college readiness, and be able to explore their own interests.

Summer Internship Coordinator

The Summer Internship Coordinator position is designed for a person with strong communication and leadership skills and a desire to support students in reaching their college and career goals. The Coordinator will be responsible for managing the daily operations of Student U’s on-campus summer internship program for rising juniors and seniors and facilitating professional development sessions for all interns (on-campus and off-campus) once a week. The Internship Coordinator is responsible for creating a positive, safe environment for all interns to learn and grow, along with building a supportive community among the interns. The internship Coordinator serves as a role model to all on-campus interns and Student U students and is responsible for upholding the organization’s core values at all times. Operations Assistant

The Student U Operations Assistant will support our Operations & Facilities Manager and the Operations Team each day during the Summer Academy to ensure that all 6-10th graders have a great summer experience. The summer operations team works to make sure each day runs smoothly – this includes everything from transportation, to food, to supplies, to technology. The Operations Assistant will play an important role in making sure every day runs smoothly this summer. This role is a great fit for any student interested in logistics and operations.

Part Time Opportunities 

High School Tutoring Program-Lead Tutor

The Student U high school Tutoring Program is an academic support program designed to support high school students with completing individual assignments while also helping them build the study habits and note taking skills that will help them excel in high school. High School Tutor’s work one-on-one or in small group settings with students every Tuesday and Thursday evening, beginning January 15th. High School Program Tutor Coordinator

The Student U Tutor Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating Student U’s academic tutorial program. Student U tutoring services are intended to increase academic success, retention, and graduation. The Tutor Coordinator oversees the academic support components of the High School program, including supervision of the supplemental instruction, oversight of the volunteer tutoring program, and organization of study sessions. This position is responsible for extensive collaboration with faculty and staff at Student U to determine and respond to student need.
