Full Time Positions:

Associate Director of Post Secondary Readiness & Success

The Associate Director of College Readiness and Postsecondary Success will be a part of our program department and will work closely with Student U’s high school staff to support students and families as they prepare to make post-secondary choices. In addition, the Associate Director of College Readiness and Postsecondary Success, will collaborate with Student U’s college success coordinators to work with students through graduation from institutions of higher education. This position will be responsible for nurturing a post-secondary completion culture throughout the organization including among Student U students, parents and staff, leading to students enrolling in best fit institutions.

Licensed Student and Family Counselor

Student U recognizes the important role that social and emotional health plays in a student’s readiness to be engaged in learning and college-bound. We would like to hire a licensed Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor, to provide direct services to students and families through individual, group and family therapy.

Part Time Positions: 

Middle School After-School Instructor

After-school Instructors will work daily throughout the school year with the same group, or “family,” of 10-15 middle school students, acting as an academic coach, and support for students. After-school Instructors work closely with schools, tutors and Student U staff to ensure that each of our students is receiving the support, intervention, and enrichment that they need to be the most successful academic, emotional, and social versions of themselves during the school year.

Middle School Interventionist/Teacher

The Middle School Professional Interventionist role is designed for educators experienced in providing structured academic interventions. Professional Interventionists will work twice a week throughout the school year with small groups of 3-7 middle school students, acting as an instructor in either math or reading skills to help remove barriers from student success at school, and providing necessary support for each student.

Middle School Small Group Instructor

The Middle School Student U Interventionist role is designed for educators with some experience within the Student U community, and some interest in learning how to provide structured academic interventions. Interventionists will work throughout the school year during scheduled hours with small groups of 3-7 middle school students, acting as an instructor in either math or reading skills to help remove barriers from student success at school, or to provide targeted and engaging lessons to extend student thinking.

Bilingual Receptionist

The Bilingual Receptionist position is designed for motivated, capable individuals who believe in the mission of the W.G. Pearson Center and Student U. This person should possess the necessary skills to maintain organization and effectiveness of building management and the after-school component of Student U programs. The receptionist will manage daily operations at the front desk of Student U’s After School Program at W.G. Pearson Center and will be responsible for collecting attendance, gathering data, and organizing student and staff documents.

Academic Coach

The High School Academic Coach role is designed for passionate individuals who believe fervently in the brilliance and potential of our students; who believe all children can succeed when adequately supported. Each Student U Academic Coach is responsible for supporting and advocating for the academic success of a small cohort of Student U high school students within Durham Public Schools.

High School Advocate

High school advocates will work closely with Student U’s high school staff to support students and their families as they prepare for high school graduation and college acceptance. The high school advocates will be responsible for mentoring, supporting and advocating for a small cohort of students within their school. Ideal candidates for this position will have proven record of developing strong relationships and advocating on behalf for students and families.
