Dream Makers

Dream Makers are organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to the Student U community through either major grants/gifts or through in-kind donation of facilities. Student U is proud to have the support of the Dream Makers below.

 

 

  • 21st Century Community Learning Centers

    21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant provides significant funding for Student U's new Middle School Year Round Program.
  • AJ Fletcher

    The A.J. Fletcher Foundation provides Student U with funds to support students from East Durham as they go through the Student U Pipeline.
  • Bank of America

    Bank of America contributes to Student U to support middle and high school programming.
  • The Bin Charitable Foundation

    The Bin Charitable Foundation awarded a grant to Student U for unrestricted use within the organization.
  • Dollar General Literacy Foundation

    The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded a grant to Student U to fund the Read Fearlessly initiative for middle school students during the summer program.
  • Durham Academy

    Durham Academy (DA) generously provides Student U with all necessary facilities during the summer program, and with office space all year long. DA also allows the use of their security and maintenance faculty, transportation vehicles, and IT staff and equipment as needed.
  • Durham Public Schools

    Durham Public Schools (DPS) partners with Student U and provides transportation vehicles and drivers, breakfast for every student during the summer, and after school snacks for middle school students during the school year. DPS also allows Student U the use of the third floor of W.G. Pearson Middle School every afternoon for the year round program.
  • F.M Kirby Foundation

    The F.M. Kirby Foundation provides Student U with funds to support new initiatives necessary for the completion of a successful 6th-12th grade pipeline. These initiatives include the Countdown to College preparation course and the Student U Health & Wellness initiative.
  • GlaxoSmithKline

    GlaxoSmithKline awarded Student U a GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Awards Fund of Triangle Community Foundation to support building healthy communities by empowering students to develop the academic skills and personal well-being necessary to succeed in college and beyond.
  • The Grable Foundation

    The Grable Foundation awarded a grant to Student U to financially support general operations.
  • Morgan Creek Capital

    Morgan Creek awarded Student U a grant to provide stipends to middle and high school teachers for their work with students during the summer and the school year.
  • Oak Foundation

    The Oak Foundation contributes to Student U to ensure that all Student U students gain the acadmic skills necessary to succeed.
  • The Rotary Club of Durham

    The Rotary Club of Durham, in its support of literacy, education and Durham youth, awards Rotary Centennial college scholarships to deserving Student U graduates who matriculate at two and four year colleges and universities. These scholarships denote 100 years of Rotary in Durham and are recognized and celebrated annually.
  • Stewards Fund

    The Stewards Fund awards Student U a matching challenge grant for all new or increased gifts each year.
  • Triangle Community Foundation

    The Triangle Community Foundation has supported Student U in several ways through its Community Grant Program which supported the initial Read Fearlessly program to awarding Student U a GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Awards Fund of TCF.
  • United Way of the Greater Triangle

    The United Way provides Student U with funds to support the summer and year-round middle school programming.
  • Wells Fargo

    Wells Fargo provides Student U with funds for general operating support.
  • William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust

    The Kenan Charitable trust provides Student U with funds to support the middle and high school summer academy programs.
