The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) initiative is the only federal funding source dedicated exclusively to after-school programs. The grant supports after-school programs that provide the following services to students attending high-poverty, low-performing schools.
The Student U 21st CCLC Year-Round Program is an out-of-school enrichment program designed to create a safe environment for students to complete their homework, prepare for classes, meet grade level standards, receive tutoring, and enjoy being a child. The Student U 21st CCLC programming is committed to supporting positive peer behaviors and creating a community where all students feel safe, loved, and nurtured so that students may reach their highest potential. The program also provides workshops and support for parents along with taking educational field trips and college trips.
Daily programming takes place each day after school at W.G. Pearson Middle School in Durham, NC.
